Neighbors helping Neighbors

Objective:  The life of the family caregiver is demanding and exhausting.  The role of the Neighbors helping Neighbors Project (NhN) is to provide support and assistance, at no cost, to the caregivers living in our neighborhood.

Resources that we offer to the caregiver:

  • Transportation for medical support - Dr. visit, lab tests, exams, etc.
  • Shopping for necessities – Drug store, groceries, etc.
  • Meal preparation
  • Yard work
  • Rehab facility selection
  • Locating support groups
  • Dog walking
  • Etc.

Neighbors helping Neighbors Project - identifies and coordinates resources and maintains and publishes a data base of the available resources.

Block Captains and other community volunteers can inform their community of the resources available from the NhN.

Organization:

A. An NhN committee of several volunteers willing to donate their time to maintain the data base and
coordinate the distribution of available resources during a time of need.

B.An aware, interested and committed community willing to communicate and coordinate activities
with caregivers living in our neighborhood.

C.       A group of willing supporters.  Neighbors who are willing to run errands and perform other tasks
to meet the needs of the caregivers.

Neighbors helping Neighbors
There are neighbors among us who recognize the enormous strain that families/caregivers are under in times of acute crisis.  We would like to know when families/caregivers are under such strain so that we can offer some neighborly support.
